Mohammed Bear

How many Muslims do you know named Mohammad?
More than one I'll bet. Do you think a religious group would demand the parents should be punished or killed because they named their child Muhammad?
Recently, and English teacher in Africa named a teddy bear Muhammad, and a particular religious group, I'll let you figure out which one, wants to put the woman in jail and have even suggested killing her for her blasphemy.
Wow, you name a human Mohammad it's okay, but name a teddy bear Mohammad and religious extremists want you dead. I've spelled the name differently to further confuse.
In America it seems so incomprehensible for a religious group to act this way.
Sadly, for thousands of years different religious factions of these intolerant folks involved in this issue, have decided to kill each other because the can't decide on who should be a successor to their religion.
Amazing. The difference in America is we have a First Amendment which demands religious freedom and keeps government out. That means we can have lots or wacky religious folks that believe in somewhat wonderous things, but few in America demand death for someone who names a teddy bear Jesus. But Jesus never suggested killing people, had an army or fought a military battle....he only wanted us to love one another and treat others as we would ourselves.
Perhaps there are some extreme religious groups whose heads would explode if they were required to follow those basic religious tenets, and wouldn't that be wonderful if that happened?

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has to be the best holiday ever!
I love it; great food, great friends and you don't have to buy any presents.
So this year we have another holiday, where I live the temperature has been setting records, 81 degrees; and tomorrow the temperature will drop 41 degrees the day before the holiday which should put everyone in a Thanksgiving mood and a Pre-Christmas spirit. I hope so.
Every year we always cook two turkeys, my wife likes to roast a bird, and I like to smoke mine. Then we put booties on them and place them on a platter and they are judged for appearance. Then, sliced and diced, they are judged for juiciness, tenderness and flavor.
MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm.
It's fun. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday, don't eat too much and get plenty of exercise.

Seasons Change

The seasons and the temperatures change.
It's a particularly wonderful time of year, waking up early, and the time change coupled with cooler and downright cold weather makes me renewed.
Wearing jackets, vests and other clothing also helps you air out the clothes you have had stored since Spring. It's like having new clothes.
The celebration of Halloween, then Veterans Day and one of the best holidays ever-THANKSGIVING. Probably the best holiday of all is Thanksgiving. You don't have to buy any presents and you get to enjoy the cooler weather, food, family and friends.
I'm going to try something new for Thanksgiving this year, while I love smoked meats, others don't appear to like them, so I'm planning on pork tenderloin, but I haven't finalized the menu ideas just yet, maybe some mint, garlic and rosemary injected into the meat....hmmmm, that sounds good.
